Hi.

We are two best friends documenting their adventures in travel, food, style and design while based in St.John's, Newfoundland.

ASA Sushi

ASA Sushi

We're always looking for a fun place to go for a casual dinner with friends. Somewhere where you can hangout, have a chat, and share delicious food - ASA Sushi definitely delivers on all of these! From the street you'd think that it was a tiny spot but the truth is there's more seating upstairs! There's lots of room for a crowd but there's also some cozy corners for two.

The design is super cool with unique lighting and a great mural on the upstairs wall. But the part that wowed us the most was the food. It was gorgeous. GORGEOUS! I mean, look at this sushi! Plus, with their open kitchen area you can watch them create these incredible dishes.

We started with the Assorted Sashimi which blew us away when it hit the table. It was the most beautifully presented dish I have ever seen in St.John's. Super fresh, super delicious, with a great mixture of textures and flavours.

Then came the rolls... oh, the rolls. Again, the presentation was immaculate. We tried the Fire Flower Roll, the Dragon Roll, and the ASA Special Roll. They were all amazing! These are not small rolls so they're perfect for sharing.

We love sushi, but you've got to mix it up too! So, we had to try some different items off the menu. First, we tried the beautifully presented Point Grey Roll which features tiny sushi rolls of spicy scallop beneath a layer of chopped scallop and tobiko. The Point Grey was Jess' favourite! We then tried a rice noodle dish with beef, and a tasty hotpot.

What better way to finish (or start) a meal then with a glass of wine. Our server was awesome and recommended a rosé to go with the meal and it was a perfect pairing. Guys, you have to check out ASA Sushi!
