Christmas in London

Christmas in London

Who doesn't love a quick weekend getaway before the holiday madness? I know we do! Last year, at the end of November, we took a long weekend trip to London to start our christmas shopping and take in some big city decorations. No surprise, we had the best trip ever.

One of the main reasons we went to London this time of year was to go see the Harry Potter play "The Cursed Child". Both Jess and I are huge Harry Potter fans and when the tickets went on sale Jess got online  immediately and (somehow) actually managed to get two tickets to both shows before they sold out. Of course, I had no choice but to go with her for this once in a lifetime experience! We're now hooked on theatre and have since gone back to London to see another show.

Not going to lie, there wasn't a whole lot of relaxing on our weekend getaway. Our trip fell on Black Friday, so, naturally, we had to fit in some shopping. We managed to get to Zara, and purchased our jackets that were featured in our Fall Jacket post, before it all got a little too crazy and we had to get out of there.

After many weekend trips together and a lot of travelling, we have a good idea of what we like to fit into a trip.

Here are our go-tos for a holiday weekend away:

market london

Check out a local market

We went to the Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill and the Borough Market in London Bridge. Both are a great place to check out cool antiques and then hit the food stalls for treats!

Wander around and take in the Christmas lights

A must do for any holiday getaway! We walked around after the play one night around Piccadilly Circus

restaurant london

Make time for relaxing lunches

Weekend trips can go super fast. There's always so much to do and see but we always take the time for good food!

winter festival

See what's happening for the holidays

Most cities have events on for the holidays. We went to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

london high tea

Try something local

We tried high tea at Rubens at the Palace! Another option could be meat pies or fish and chips at a local pub.
