Full English Breakfast
Admittedly, Lauren and I are breakfast and brunch fiends. Especially since our time exploring England, we've developed a serious appreciation for the Full English Breakfast. Traditionally, the Full English Breakfast includes eggs, bacon, sausages, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, and toast - like the one above which we found at The Grazing Goat in London. It's a hearty and well-rounded way to start any day.
Once we returned to Newfoundland from our last UK trip - you can read about our adventure to Stonehenge here - we set out to find our favourite local version of the Full English Breakfast.
We found it at The Merchant Tavern!
It doesn't have the traditional mushrooms and tomatoes but it does the job. They also have a pared down version on their menu called the Classic Breakfast, which is a good choice for days when you're not quite ready to feast (or if you're adding dessert!)
Of course, Lauren and I also love to cook! On our visit to the Mayflower Cottage last weekend we attempted our own rendition of the Full English Breakfast! However, we were totally lacking the mushrooms and sausages so maybe it was more of an upgraded Classic Breakfast.
Although it was not quite The Merchant Tavern, we were full and satisfied!
To keep this simple meal feeling special, we chose to use sourdough bread from Rocket Bakery, thick-cut smoked bacon and fresh tomatoes taken directly from Lauren's garden!
