Mayflower Cottage: Blue Room
This is the more 'masculine' themed room at Mayflower Cottage. The room was painted in the same white colour as the Red Room, Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, which offers the same crisp white look as the other room. The board and batten statement wall is the same as the red room as well. Check out that post for a link to a DIY video.
When designing Mayflower Cottage we decided to keep all the rooms the same so that we could use accessories to make each room unique. It was important to us to choose neutral colours for the cottage because we wanted continuity on the main floor. We also wanted it to be relatively timeless and not too trendy - in every room you could take out the accessories and fixtures and have a blank slate to work with again.
In this room, we achieved a masculine cottage style with this quilt from Bed Bath &Beyond, the wood lamp and the Cabin paddles from Winners Homesense. The headboard was another Kijiji find for under $100. You could easily take these pieces out and swap for another colour to achieve a completely new look!
we bought: bright white linens from winners homesense, large tree watercolour from winners homesense, throw pillows and cage fixture from wicker emporium
On the wall opposite of the bed we needed to add some interest. This room didn't have a mantel to draw focus to so we created a small gallery wall. Instead of using just pictures or photos, we mixed the watercolour painting with a clock and a mirror of different sizes to add some interest.
