Wine and Candy Pairing
Halloween is approaching, which means it's time to stock up on your favourite candies to hand out to cute kiddies at your door on All Hallow's Eve - and also do your best to not eat it all before October 31st.
If you're like me, you wait until last minute to purchase it to avoid picking all of the Reese cups out of your purchased boxes, devouring them, and then hiding the wrappers in shame. Well, this year, Lauren and I have found the perfect remedy to this issue. This remedy is embracing the binge to its fullest and having no shame at all.
We tried out two Halloween Candy and Wine Pairings to make the best of our unavoidable treat binging. Truthfully, we both were a little skeptical, with fear that sweet treats would be too much to pair with wine. However, with some beginners knowledge from previous wine tasting tours that taught us basic pairing logistics (and lots of pinterest research), we chose the following two pairings.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Reese's Pieces
We chose 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon to pair with Reese's Pieces and Reese Cups. Of course, the label on 19 Crimes suited our Halloween theme perfectly - not to mention this wine is delicious! It paired fantastically with the Reese treats, creating a delicious and rich flavour that wasn't too sweet. It's addictive, trust me! We almost ran out of Reese's Pieces!
With our homes starting to be filled with Halloween decor and candies, we're feeling inspired to try out more interesting combinations. Have you tried any interesting Halloween candy and wine pairings? Share them with us!
